It is about time that a study is conducted into building a walkway to link Salini to Qawra via the retaining four-metre wide wall of the salt pans, thereby extending the Qawra promenade and other facilities for the benefit of Salini residents and visitors alike.

With a bit of thought and imagination this will also bring the deserted salt pans upgrade project to the forefront of the area and enable everyone to appreciate this magnificent piece of our history as well as creating a very useful pathway.

While it is appreciated that the people living in the south of Malta have been forgotten for many years and are finally being given the attention they deserve, we must never forget that Qawra, and its surrounding areas, also needs some serious attention because it hosts a substantial number of visitors to our islands. Such a link would create an added attraction by extending the 2-3 metre-wide Qawra promenade to the coast road.

The current promenade walk has reached saturation point with walkers and joggers and, while such a link does not need to cost big money, it would also avoid one having to risk life and limb walking past the congested road leading from Qawra to Kennedy Grove to join the coast road.
