Mannone: Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone was on his way to hospital yesterday afternoon amid fears he may have suffered an arm fracture. Manager David Moyes has revealed that the Italian is to undergo checks after being hurt in training. The Sunderland manager will hope the former Arsenal man has suffered no lasting damage with the Black Cats due at Southampton on Saturday as they chase their first point of the Premier League season.

Leverkusen blow: Bayer Leverkusen have suffered a double injury blow ahead of the new Bundesliga season with the news that Lars Bender and Javier Hernandez will be sidelined for at least two weeks. Midfielder Bender, Leverkusen’s captain, suffered an ankle problem during Germany’s Olympic final defeat to Brazil in Rio while striker Hernandez fractured his right hand after falling down the stairs in his apartment.

Parker: Shawn Parker has signed a contract extension at Augsburg and immediately joined Nurnberg on a season-long loan deal. The 23-year-old forward, who prolonged his stay at his parent club until June 2019, has dropped down a division in a bid to gain regular first-team football following injury.

Pesqueira: Galatasaray have signed Portugal international Josue Pesqueira from Porto on loan. The midfielder, who has played four times for his country, will stay in Turkey for the full season. Josue has also had loan spells at Bursapor and Braga while on the books at Porto.

Marin: Marko Marin has left Chelsea to join Greek club Olympiacos. The 27-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge from Werder Bremen in 2012 but made just 16 appearances for the Premier League side, spending time on loan at Sevilla, Fiorentina, Anderlecht and Trabzonspor.
