I often ask myself why is it that the performance of Malta’s economy, at least at macro level, is very hard to criticise.

The answer has stayed constant with me for several years now: when public finance is well managed (government excessive borrowing avoided), the whole economy stays cheerful, resisting the allure of perennial over-liquidity.
