Carroll: West Ham striker Andy Carroll faces yet another spell on the sidelines. The 27-year-old suffered a knee injury during the Europa League play-off against Astra Giurgiu on Thursday. The club have yet to put an official time frame on his recovery but estimate he will be out of action for four to six weeks.

Dante: Wolfsburg defender Dante has confirmed he is on his way to French club Nice, once he passes a medical yesterday. The Brazil defender is set to link up once again with his former Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre at the Ligue 1 club. He was left out of the Wolves squad for their DFB-Pokal opener at FSV Frankfurt on Saturday and he confirmed to Sport1 television that he is about to complete his move to France.

In France: Yannis Salibur and Jeremy Sorbon both found the net as Guingamp stretched their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 campaign with a 2-1 win over Marseille. Salibur’s first-minute goal stunned the visitors, who never fully recovered from that early setback. Sorbon then turned in Lucas Deax’s near-post cross just ahead of the hour, to double the hosts’ advantage. Florian Thauvin handed Marseille hope with a late goal, but his side remain winless in the league after three matches this term.

Veretout: Jordan Veretout is on the verge of leaving Aston Villa with the Birmingham Mail reporting he will join Saint-Etienne this week. The French midfielder has failed to start in a competitive game for five months, and it is thought the deal would be a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.

Rizespor: Former Arsenal team-mates Emmanuel Adebayor and Mathieu Flamini are set to join Turkish Super Lig side Caykur Rizespor. “We reached an agreement in principle with both players,” club manager Hikmet Karaman told Anadolu Agency. “They’ll come to Rize within a few days and the last step of negotiations are going to be done. This is down to everyone devotedly working to finish the deals, so I have to thank the board of directors and our president.”
