Maltese band Red Electrick won’t just be unpacking their baggage when they disembark from their Emirates flight in Cyprus but they will bring to the public new songs from their latest album, Inside You, as well as famous covers.

The party is set to enthral concert goers in the grandiose setting of the ancient amphitheatre of Kourion, led by Mro Yiannis Hadjiloizou, who is the president and artistic director of the Cyprus Academy of Music. Mro Hadjiloizou has given hundreds of concerts as a pianist, conductor and composer worldwide, with his music performed by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, awarded at Cannes, and even soundtracked in Hollywood. He also stood as ‘Representative Artist’ of the Cyprus presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Titled Maestro & Friends, this concert will be held live on September 11 at 8.30pm. Each year, Maestro Hadjiloizou invites musicians from different parts of the world and musical backgrounds to share the stage with him.

Red Electrick band members Peter Borg, Matthew James Borg, Ivan Borg, Jonas Delicata and Robert Spiteri will be performing their classic hits, like Paul, Young Again, Runaway, as well as new original hits like Everybody’s Listening from their latest album. REK will also join in premiering some of the maestro’s own compositions like Miracles, Midsummer Night’s Dream and Song of Colours.

Supported by the Malta Tourism Authority, Cyprus Tourism Organisation, Emirates and Cyprus Villages Traditional Houses, the concert is being jointly organised by the Cyprus Academy of Music and marketing communications agency BPC International.

“BPC have been present in Cyprus for a number of years now handling major clients. During the last years, I have kept a very close contact with Carmel Bonello of BPC International, with whom I have collaborated both in Cyprus and Malta with great success. One of our projects involves the famous Maltese rock band Red Electrick (REK). We previously presented REK at Academy 32 in Nicosia, Cyprus to public acclaim. Following this, together with famous Cypriot crossover soprano Aliki Chrysochou, I visited Malta to begin working on a collaboration with REK to be released in the near future. Aliki was one of the finalists in the 2013 edition of Britain’s Got Talent,” Mro Hadjiloizou said.

Incorporating Red Electrick’s concert at Kourion, Enrico Travel (www.facebook.com/EnricoTravel) is offering travel packages to Cyprus from September 7 to 12. On Mondays and Wednesdays, Emirates flies between Malta and Larnaca on a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
