The story of the man whose miraculous cure from cancer led to the beatification of Nazju Falzon by John Paul II in 2001 is now recounted in a new book in Maltese issued by the Vice-Postulation for the Cause of Nazju’s Canonisation.

Anthony Gambin, the man cured through the intercession of Nazju Falzon, recounts his experience in an interview he gave specifically for the new book, which is entitled Beatu Nazju Falzon – Alla jibqa’ jfejjaq.

The story of his miraculous cure is accompanied by the extraordinary account of Joe Azzopardi, who is fully convinced that his small child survived through the intercession of Nazju Falzon. It was also Azzopardi who, following the curing of his son, encouraged his friend Anthony Gambin to go with his story to the Church authorities.

The authors of the new book are Mgr Philip Calleja, who this year completes 30 years in the role of Vice-Postulator for the Beatification and Canonisation Cause of Nazju Falzon, and Charles Buttigieg. This is their second book together about Nazju Falzon... the first was published in 1988, 13 years before Nazju Falzon was beatified together with Dun Ġorġ Preca (who, in 2007, was also canonised) and Sr Maria Adeodata Pisani.

There are various cases of people who survived serious illnesses after the beatification and who attribute their healing to the intercession of Nazju Falzon. A small number among these healings may perhaps be considered difficult to explain, medically.

The book includes a section dedicated to summarised accounts that have reached the Vice-Postulator after the publication of the 1988 book. The most recent account included is a December 2015 experience. The section also embraces brief descriptions about a list of additional graces received.

Another section of the book deals with baptisms in the Catholic Church of people who were prepared for this step by Nazju Falzon, information about particular devotions Nazju Falzon gave witness to in his life, the Holy See’s Decree about his virtues, and an invitation for prayers for the grace of another miracle so that Blessed Nazju Falzon could be declared a saint.

The book is available from Dar l-Emigrant, Castile Place, Valletta, and from leading bookshops.
