Jedinak: Aston Villa have completed the signing of Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace. The midfielder has signed a three-year deal having watched Villa’s 1-1 Championship draw with Huddersfield on Tuesday. Jedinak lost the captaincy at Palace, having skippered the side for the last four seasons.
Carrera: Massimo Carrera has been appointed Spartak Moscow head coach on a two-year deal, the Russian Premier League club said on their website yesterday. The 52-year-old Italian, who joined the team last month, took temporary charge on August 5 when Dmitri Alenichev resigned. Spartak are second with seven points from three matches.
Clucas: Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas has signed a new three-year contract at the Premier League club. Clucas, 25, impressed as the Tigers completed a shock victory over champions Leicester on the opening day of the season and has now committed himself to 2019. With the club seemingly close to a takeover by a Chinese group there has been no investment in the first-team squad this summer, but Clucas’s new deal shows some signs of positive movement.
Lescott: Rangers have earmarked Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott as the final piece of their summer transfer campaign after nearing a deal for Preston striker Joe Garner. Lescott is believed to be their top defensive target despite Philippe Senderos joining Gers for a week’s training on Monday.
Barca Doc: Manchester City have dismissed suggestions they are lining up a move for Barcelona club doctor Ricard Pruna. Media reports in Spain have claimed City are looking to bring in the highly-rated medic from manager Pep Guardiola’s former club. However a club source told Press Association Sport yesterday there is no foundation to the reports.
