FARRUGIA. On August 15, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, MARY VIOLET, née Scicluna, a most beloved mother and grandmother, widow of Remiġ, aged 90, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Anne and her husband Philip Cassar, David, widower of Isabella, and Tanya and her husband Ivan Esposito, her grandchildren Mandy, Andrew, Matthew, Ian, Alex, and Katryna, their respective spouses and partners, her sister Josephine Redmen, residing in England, her in-laws, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow, Thursday, August 18 at 2pm for Għargħur parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the medical staff and carers at St Vincent de Paul Residence, Block Pope John Paul II Ward 3 for their care, attention and support. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

GATT. On August 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, WALTER ANTHONY of Birkirkara, residing at Casa Arkati, Mosta, at the remarkable age of 100, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Annie née Cassar, his children Maria and Ben Muscat, John and Josephine Gatt, Edwidge Borg and Michael Symons, Christine and Bjorn Gillgren, Josianne Stottrup, his grandchildren Lara, Ben, Brian, Ian, Josef, Alexander, Mark, Annika, David, Jennifer and their respective partners, his great-grandchildren Jake, Kane, Kate, Luigi, Mia, Sienna, Lawrence and Rowan, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Fundraising dinner

The Malta Dementia Society Support Group is organising its annual fundraising dinner on Friday, September 16 at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard.

The dinner will take place around the petite pool (entrance through Oscar Testa Street) and features a wide selection of food, starting off with an antipasto and salad bar, followed by grilled food served off the barbeque, and ending with a choice of desserts.

The price of €25 for adults also includes an end-of-meal coffee and free flowing water throughout. A children’s menu is also available. Those aged six to 10 years of age pay €10 while under-fives go free. All attendees will also be able to participate in a lottery on the night.

Pasta by the sea

The Women’s Commission within Our Lady of the Lily Band Club of Mqabba is organising a social activity themed Pasta by the Sea on Friday at Qajjenza Bay, Birżebbuġa. A variety of food and drinks will be served and there will also be time for swimming.
