Barcelona winger Cristian Tello will continue his spell on loan at Fiorentina, the Spanish champions announced yesterday.

The 25-year-old joined Fio-rentina on a six-month loan deal during the January transfer market and made 13 Serie A appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

The agreement includes an option for Fiorentina to buy the player at the end of 2016-17.

Tello played three seasons with Barca’s first team before being loaned to Porto two years ago. He left the Portuguese side this year to join Fiorentina.

Bilic hopeful Ayew injury is minor

Slaven Bilic hopes club-record signing Andre Ayew can make a quick return to West Ham action after suffering a thigh problem against Chelsea.

Ayew trudged off little more than half an hour into his Premier League bow for the Hammers, before Chelsea prevailed 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

“Ayew has a thigh injury, he told me it’s not a big one but you never know,” said Bilic of the £20.5m signing from Swansea.

“He will have a scan and we have to wait for the result of the scan to know how long he will be out.”

Ayew remains a doubt for tomorrow’s Europa League trip to Astra Giurgui in Romania.

Peres moves to Roma from Torino on loan

Roma have signed defender Bruno Peres on loan from Serie A rivals Torino with an option to eventually make the move permanent for a fee of €12.5 million ($14.10 million).

The 26-year-old joined Torino in 2014 from Brazilian club Santos. He made 31 league appearances last season, scoring three goals.

“I’m absolutely delighted to start this new challenge,” Peres said.

Roma face Porto today in the preliminary round of the Champions League before kicking off their Serie A season at home to Udinese on Saturday.

Bournemouth sign defender Wilson

Bournemouth have signed Ireland utility player Marc Wilson from fellow Premier League team Stoke City on a two-year deal, the south-coast club said.

The 28-year-old, who can play in defence or midfield, spent two loan spells at Bournemouth in 2007 when they were in the third tier and has signed for an undisclosed fee.

“I enjoyed my years at Stoke City but I spoke with the manager Mark Hughes and we both agreed it was time for me to move on – I am excited now to start a new chapter in my career,” Wilson said.

Wilson has played 24 times for Ireland.

Leitner sees bright future at Lazio

Midfielder Moritz Leitner has vowed to relaunch his career at new club Lazio after admitting he was not good enough to break into Borussia Dortmund’s first team.

“Last year, everything was working perfectly for Dortmund,” the 23-year-old said.

“It was difficult to find any room. Now I am in Rome, I want to relaunch my career. I need to look forward, not back.”

Leitner follows the same path taken by compatriot Miroslav Klose, who left Lazio this summer after five seasons during which he became a firm fans’ favourite.

Burnley confirm Defour transfer

Burnley yesterday completed the club-record signing of Belgian international Steven Defour from Anderlecht.

Defour, who has signed a three-year contract with the newly-promoted side, moves for a deal reported to be in the region of £7.35 million by the British media.

The defensive midfielder be-came Anderlecht’s record signing when he joined in 2014 after three seasons with Porto where he won two Portuguese crowns.

Defour previously played for Genk and Standard Liege, the club where he twice won the Belgian title, and has won 46 caps for the Belgian national side.

Teen arrested after goalkeeper attacked

A masked fan ran onto the pitch, attacked a goalkeeper and said he had left a bomb in the stands of a top flight Swedish match on Monday, forcing the game to be abandoned in the final minute.

Police arrested a 17-year-old after the incident at the clash between Jonkoping and Ostersund, whose keeper Aly Keita was chased and knocked down before a security guard wrestled his attacker to the ground.

“I am shocked and angry. It is awful that something like this could happen,” the 29-year-old goalkeeper said, adding he had been struck on the temple.

The youth told police he had left a bomb in the stands, but a search yielded nothing suspicious.

Referee Jonas Eriksson abandoned the match with the score tied at 1-1.
