The news that the Townsquare project – a 38-storey high tower has been approved (although marginally) by the Planning Authority – is a shattering blow to all Tignè residents but, especially, those living immediately next to the project site.
I find the statement by Gasan’s spokesman that one of the benefits emanating from this monstrous project is the rehabilitation of Villa Drago very puerile and so are the other benefits attributed to it.
Meanwhile, I feel grateful for the staunch way the Sliema local council and NGOs have conducted the ‘fight’ against this project.
Unfortunately, property developers seem to have much power and, very often, have it their way.
