In theme with the current Olympics taking place in Rio, Bay Street Shopping Complex has set about organising six days full of fun, passion and education for children aged between five and 10.

The Kids Olympics kicked off on August 5, with the last three days of activities happening this Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Different types of games have been included, such as discus throwing, mini basketball, Olympic rings, obstacle course relay, marble relay, Olympic torch relay and several water games. All children are being given a medal as a token of their participation.

This event was endorsed by the Malta Olympic Committee that also delivered an informative session under the prePlay EU Programme during which participants were informed of the importance of doping prevention.

Joanne Camilleri, a former national champion in judo, also gave a detailed account of her experience as an athlete.

The Maltese public is encouraged to attend the closing three days which are taking place at level 4, Bay Street from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday and Friday and 10am to 12am on Saturday.
