The FKNK hunters' federation said today it would revoke the membership of anyone convicted of illegal trapping.

But it also hit out at CABS over its statement last week about having discovered six illegal trapping sites, saying the statement was "probably" an effort to influence the European Court of Justice, where Malta is insisting on its right to apply a derogation from the EU Birds Directive to legally permit live-finch capturing.

The federation said it woudl not allow anyone breaking the law and thus jeopardising traditional live-bird capturing.
