Valletta will be seeking to gain the respect of their opponents in their debut appearance in the UEFA Futsal Cup, in Finland, this week.

The Maltese champions will meet Georgian title winners Tbilisi State University, Scotland’s Wattcell Futsal Club and hosts FC Sievi in Group F (preliminary round). The matches will be played at the Sievi Sports Complex between tomorrow and Sunday.

The Whites have further bolstered their squad this summer with the arrivals of Gary Inguanez and Chris Cardona plus two other high-profile foreigners – Endrit Kaca and Vanderlei Augusto.

During a press conference held at Valletta FC’s premises, coach Clayton Felice said that he focused mostly on the physical aspect during pre-season training.

“We know that we are facing a difficult task in this preliminary round group. Hosts Sievi have improved a lot over the past few years and they will be a hard nut to crack,” Felice said.

“We are aware of the strength of Tbilisi State University and we are hoping to gain a good result against Scottish champions Wattcell who are on the same level as us.”

Valletta start their commitments against Sievi Futsal on Wednesday before taking on Tbilisi State University the following day. Their final group match, against Wattcell, is on Saturday.
