Having visited Malta over 100 times during the past 35 years I think I have earned a gold medal for tourism! So much has improved: the quality of service everywhere, the gastronomy, the care taken by the local councils to keep the place attractive and tidy, the availability of high-quality goods and the reliability of water and electricity supply, to name just a few.

What a pity, then, that the ‘Malta experience’ is thoroughly destroyed by the volume of cars and the apparent inability of the government to do anything about either the traffic jams or the diabolical parking situation.

While the long-suffering Maltese may have to put up with these, tourists do not: we can simply go somewhere else. Could we please see some progress over the next couple of years?
