AGIUS. On August 6, at Roseville Retirement Home, Attard, JOSEPH E. of Attard, aged 95. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Frances, John Leighton, widower of his daughter Marie, of UK, his daughters Audrey and her husband Joseph Falzon of Australia, Claire and her husband Arthur Tua, his treasured grandchildren, Kate, Jon, Karl, Fiona, Alan and Jeremy and their families, including eight great-grandchildren, numerous relatives in Malta, UK, Australia and Canada. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, August 13 at 8.30am for Attard parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Children’s Cancer Support Group, Rainbow Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, would be greatly appreciated. The family would especially like to thank Roseville administration, nursing staff and carers for their excellent work and dedication, and to Mary whom we turned to for special support. CIANTAR. On August 11, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY of Sliema, aged 101, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her three sons Charlie, Frank and Tony, their wives Paola, Mary and Josephine and their children, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, August 13 at 8.15am for St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.45am, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. FENECH. On August 10, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, ANNA, of Żejtun, widow of Salvu, aged 87, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Mourning her loss are her children Frank and his wife Rita, Horace and his wife Anna, Sina and her husband Alex Bugeja, Dr Anthony Fenech and his wife Marion, and Michael and his girlfriend Marisa, her grandchildren Dr Ann Marie Bugeja and her boyfriend Keith Kerr, Derek and his wife Lydia and their daughter Sophie, Andrew and his girlfriend Martina, Mark Anthony and his girlfriend Lorraine, and Dr Daniel Fenech, her brothers and sisters Joe and his wife Victoria of New York, Paulina, Doris, Benny and his wife Maria, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Antonia, Balzan, tomorrow, Saturday, August 13 at 2.15pm for St Catherine’s parish church, Żejtun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment in the family grave at St Gregory Cemetery, Żejtun. No flowers by request but donations to Fondazzjoni Nazareth, Żejtun, will be appreciated. The family would like to thank the nursing, caring and administrative staff of Casa Antonia for their devoted care. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

ZAMMIT ALESSI. On August 10, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIA, widow of Emmanuel, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and lovingly surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her children Giovanna and her husband Peter Schaak, Elena and her husband Edward Poole, Orazio and his partner Teresa, and Vincent, her grandchildren Monique and her husband Damian, Amanda and her husband Malcolm, Jean-Pierre, Lorraine, Christian, Stephanie, Manuelito and Maria, her great-grandchildren Toby, Robin, Miles and Jack, and all her relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, August 13 at 9.30am for the Divine Mercy Sanctuary, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 10am. A cremation will be taking place in Italy. No flowers by request but donations to St Joseph Institute, St Venera, will be much appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit, You make me see everything and show me the way to reach my ideal. You give me the divine gift to forgive and forget the wrong that is done to me. You are in all instances of my life with me. I, in this short dialogue, want to thank You for everything and confirm once more that I never want to be separated from You, no matter how great the material desires may be. Fundraising event

A very special event in aid of Il-Ġardina, a project overseen by the President of Malta, will take place tomorrow at The Chalice Bar & Lounge in St Julian’s at 8pm.

Il-Ġardina garden, at the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre, will give cancer patients a serene space to spend quality time with their loved ones and friends.

“We at Chalice are delighted to support the Malta Community Chest fund on this project, this is a project which touches many people including me personally” said Steven Gatt, managing partner of Chalice.

With a unique auction during a networking event, live music and a very impressive guest list, the night promises to be something truly unique.

Tickets are €30 with an open bar. All proceeds will be going towards the Il-Ġardina project.
