A 21-year-old Israeli motorist with a long history of traffic violations cut off his fingerprints in an attempt to foil police investigations, the Times of Israel reported

The unnamed motorist was arrested in Jerusalem last week, after he crashed into a car with his scooter while trying to evade police. Police were not tricked by his fake ID and arrested him after identifying him as the man responsible for a previous hit-and-run.

Police only noticed the man's fingers once he was in their custody. Although the man first claimed that his finger pads had been injured in the scooter crash, he subsequently admitted to having cut them off in an attempt to prevent police from identifying him.
