That some animals are more equal than others is what I can think of in reply to Charles Micallef (July 30) who, as a taxpayer, demanded that taxpayers are all treated as equals regarding residential parking.

I have been enquiring in writing with Transport Malta regarding particular residential parking since November 21, 2014.

The information that, so far, I have received leaves much to be desired and I am still in the same position I was more than 20 months ago.

I managed to obtain the information below after various enquiries and reminders.

On May 6, 2015 (almost six months after my original enquiry), Transport Malta informed me that “at the moment, the Authority is revising the parking policy. Subsequently, all parking schemes will conform to the provisions of the new policy”.

On July 30, 2015, it informed me that “the car parking policyis being discussed at inter-ministerial committee”.

After further enquiries, on March 25, 2016, Transport Malta advised me that it “is in the final stages”.

How long should one wait for the transport watchdog’s “final stages” to be over? I hate being taken for a free ride (the pun is intentional) notwithstanding that this is coming from Transport Malta, so I decided not to follow my enquiry further. Apparently, efficiency with Transport Malta is only a perception.
