Updated 5.37pm - Round 4

William Chetcuti's bid for Olympic glory is to end in disappointment, with the Maltese sharpshooter languishing towards the bottom of the standings four rounds into the five-round men's double trap event.

Chetcuti hit 22, 25, 24 and 26 disks in each of the first four rounds, bringing him to a 97 total. That puts him in 18th place out of 22 shooters, with one round of 30 disks left to play for.

The 6 shooters with the best score at the end of the 5 rounds will progress to the semifinal. With Chetcuti 12 disks behind current sixth-placed shooter Qiang Pan's 109 score, that is a near-impossible task.

Britain's Tim Kneale leads the pack with a score of 114, with Australia's James Willett in second with a score of 113. German shooter Andreas Loew and Italian Marco Innocenti are in joint third place with 112 apiece.
