Two persons were injured early this morning in a gas leak explosion at their home in Mqabba.

The police said the incident happened at about 4.15am in a home in Triq it-Troll.

The injured, a 77-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman, were assisted by fire-fighters of the Civil Protection Department.

They were rushed to hospital where the man was found to be in critical condition. The woman was slightly injured. 

A Magisterial inquiry is under way.
