French champions Paris St Germain warmed up for their Ligue 1 title defence with a convincing 4-1 win over Lyon in the Trophee des Champions late on Saturday.

Javier Pastore, Lucas Moura, new signing Hatem Ben Arfa and Layvin Kurzawa got on the scoresheet in Klagenfurt, Austria, as PSG made an impressive start under new boss Unai Emery.

Lyon, who finished runners-up by a distant 31 points last season, claimed a late consolation through Corentin Tolisso.

This was Lyon’s second successive loss to Paris SG in the French Super Cup fixture.

Lyon actually made the better start with Jeremy Morel testing Kevin Trapp and Sergi Darder shooting wide but PSG took the lead after just nine minutes when Kurzawa set up Pastore.

PSG, now without Zlatan Ibrahimovic but still carrying plenty of threat, went close when Angel di Maria forced Anthony Lopes to save from the distance.

Alexandre Lacazette hit the post as Lyon responded but Lucas doubled the lead after 19 minutes and Ben Arfa made the result safe before the break.

Lucas and Pastore spurned further chances early in the second half but Kurzawa made it 4-0 following a set-piece after 54 minutes.

Lyon fought on with Mathieu Valbuena and Jordan Ferri having efforts saved before Tolisso headed in a consolation from Christophe Jallet’s cross with three minutes remaining.
