Many residents of and visitors to Ta’ Xbiex have been inconvenienced for over two months already. This is due to the erroneous decisions of someone at Transport Malta to place one-way signs in such a manner that, in order to go from Ta’ Xbiex to Gżira or Sliema, one has to go round and round in circles. The only access road to Gżira is very narrow, and buses and trucks have to pass through this road, too.
The new road directions, however, are the icing on the cake. More one-way signs have been put up. There are two lanes at Ta’ Xbiex Seafront leading to Valletta. We have been told there will be a third lane towards Sliema – but who knows when this will materialise?
The junction of Ta’ Xbiex Seafront corner with Abate Rigord Street needs to be addressed, as does the junction in front of Mamma Mia Restaurant where residents cannot go home from Msida without having to go to the other side of Ta’ Xbiex first.
Also, we residents cannot go to the parish church in our cars. Many residents are over 70 and cannot walk to church. After Mass, one has to drive to Msida in order to go back home – round the corner from the church.
Will the planners at Transport Malta use their ingenuity and the advice given by the Ta’ Xbiex local council to rectify this mess please?
