Conductor Colin Attard directed a concert at the very suggestive Teatro Antico of Taormina in Sicily.
The concert formed part of the Taormina Opera Festival produced by the Associazione Festival Euro Mediterraneo, and artistically directed by Enrico Castiglione. The event was prominently featured in the Sicilian media.

Attard was at the helm of the festival’s Chamber Orchestra in a concert which opened with Mozart’s serenade Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The concert’s main excerpt was Vivaldi’s Le Quattro Stagioni, featuring renowned Sicilian violinist Massimo Barrale, the leader of the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana. Attard also made it a point to include a Maltese excerpt in the programme presenting Joseph Vella’s Sarabanda for Strings.
The concert was the result of the ongoing collaboration between Gaulitana: A Festival of Music, of which Attard is the artistic director, and the Associazione Festival Euro Mediterraneo. The two organisations’ previous collaboration was the production of the opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Gozo last April as part of the tenth edition of Gaulitana.
Indeed, officials from the festival accompanied the maestro and were involved in a series of festival-related meetings. The Gozitan delegation was also invited to attend the production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, the key event of the Taormina Opera Festival.
