Are there laws that regulate noise pollution during village feasts, (or any other activity, for that matter)? Very loud music (which, I believe, accompanied ground fireworks) went on till 00:20 last Saturday night (July 31), all in the name of Our Lady of Pompeii, of course.

I bet Our Lady said a prayer or two for those who could not sleep as a result.

And why do we still have no specific law that draws a line as to what volume (decibels) is acceptable to emanate from a building’s apertures/walls?

Subject to correction, you still have to take your neighbours to court if they’re polluting your house by their noise because there’s no law that allows the police to arraign someone for exceeding a specified level of decibels. This is indeed a problem, especially in the south of Malta.

When it comes to such issues of quality of life, it’s clearly a Third World country we live in, let’s just face it.
