Birkirkara bowed out of this season’s UEFA Europa League with a 3-1 defeat to Russian side FC Krasnodar in the third qualifying round, second leg at the Kuban Stadium this evening.

The Maltese team suffered a 3-0 defeat in last week’s opening leg at the Hibs Stadium which had practcally ended the Stripes’ hopes of prolonging their run in Europe after having previously eliminated Siroki Brijek and Hearts.  

Krasnodar's goals today came in the first 38 minutes by Kouassi after 15 minutes, Joaozinho (37) and Laborde a minute later.

Predrag Jovic scored the consolation goal for Birkirkara just after an hour's play.
