Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding will make her stage debut in a new production of Ghost – The Musical.

She will play the lead opposite Hollyoaks actor Andy Moss, who starred as Rhys Ashworth in the Channel 4 soap for eight years.

The musical is based on the 1990 romantic fantasy thriller starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg.

Bill Kenwright’s new production follows the original Ghost The Musical, which premiered in the West End in 2011 before transferring to Broadway.

With a fresh cast, it features an expanded book, new music and original staging.

The plot centres on lovers Sam (Moss) and Molly (Harding), who are attacked as they return to their apartment. Sam is murdered and Molly is left in despair. But when Sam dies, he becomes caught between the real world and the next, because Molly is in danger and he must try to save her.

The show will tour the UK this autumn, opening at the New Wimbledon Theatre on September 1.

Moroever, Harding said the movie was “one of my all-time favourites” and she was “absolutely delighted” to make her theatre debut in Ghost – The Musical.

Kenwright said: “Ghost is a story full of hope and is one of those films which never leaves you.”
