The appointment of TV presenter John Bundy as CEO of Public Broadcasting Services was approved today in a secret vote by the PBS board members.
Sources close to PBS said that the appointment was discussed by the PBS board and certain members expressed reservations over the appointment.
According to board regulations a secret ballot was then taken and Mr Bundy was voted in.
The PBS Board thanked Mr Attard for his service. It also announced the appointment of Charles Dalli as deputy CEO.
Mr Bundy is replacing Anton Attard who was appointed by the previous government in August 2010.
Mr Attard was involved in the Nationalist Party’s election campaign in 2008 and ran Net TV.
Mr Bundy has had stints as a television presenter on both political party stations. He started his professional broadcasting career in 1990, presenting a breakfast show on Smash TV. He went on to present a number of shows on the Nationalist Party’s Net TV from 1998 to 2002. Mr Bundy also had a stint at TVM from 2002 to 2008.
He has also been on stage as a singer and is best known for Pajjiz tal-Miki Maws
Mr Bundy was a PN election candidate in 1996 but more recently was associated with Labour.
