The third edition of the Gatorade Malta National Aquathlon Championship is taking place at Marsaxlokk on Sunday between 7am and 10am at Marsaxlokk.

Organised by the Malta Triathlon Federation, this year’s event will see athletes running 2.5 kilometres, swimming one kilometre and ending the race by running another 2.5 kilometres.

The federation will also hold children and youth races for athletes attending the Malta Youth Triathlon Academy –MYTA, which is a joint venture between the federation, Sport Malta and the European Triathlon Union. A total of 100 athletes are expected to take part: 60 in the adult race and 40 in the children and youth races. The federation is expecting participants aged six up to 70 years old to take part.

The Aquathlon championship is one of three national championships organised yearly by the Federation, with the others being the Duathlon Championship in April and the Triathlon Championship in October.

The public is encouraged to attend Sunday’s championship, with the race kicking off from near Marsaxlokk’s water polo pitch at 7am.

Part of the registration fee will be donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund through the Solidarjetà bl-Isport campaign.
