Richard England’s Dar Il-Ħanin Samaritan Conference Centre and Meditation Garden in Sta Venera was among the winners at the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale.

The international award, by the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies in conjunction with the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, is given each year for the best new and cutting edge designs.

This year’s awarded buildings included works of some of the world’s leading architects, such as Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster, Kohn Pedersen Fox, I.M. Pei, Richard Meier, Moshe Safdie and Toyo Ito.

Dar Il-Ħanin Samaritan Conference Centre and Meditation Garden serves as a home for elderly members of the Society of Christian Doctrine - M.U.S.E.U.M. as well as a retreat and conference space for groups.

This is the second award Prof. England's building has won. Last year, the Dar Il-Ħanin Samaritan Conference Centre and Meditation Garden was awarded the Grand Prix at the XIV International Academy of Architecture competition.
