An online gallery highlighting Maltese artists and their work is hoping it will help serve as a springboard to bring local artisans to an international audience.

The Maltese Gallery launched last weekend with three artists - painter Philip Agius, ceramic designer Sue Mifsud and watercolour painter Joseph Casapinta - highlighted.

Artists who sign up to the platform are given a virtual space to present their works and to sell them to international buyers.

“We have art and culture at heart,” The Maltese Gallery director Kurt Vella said. "We believe there is a lot of interest in the local artisanal product – but not much is being done to promote the skills of the artisan."

The Maltese Gallery is now on the lookout for local artists keen to share their works with a larger audience - but it has warned that spaces are limited.
