On July 30, at Mater Dei Hospital, EDWARD, widower of Doris, of Cospicua and residing in St Julian’s, ex-recorder Malta Drydocks, aged 80, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Loved and remembered by his daughters Edith and her husband Norman Grech, Audrey Grant, and his beloved granddaughters Beverly and Emma Maria, his sisters Concetta and her husband Henry Saccasan, Jessie, widow of Alfred Farrugia, his brother Alex and his wife Antoinette, his in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Monday, August 1, at 7.45am, for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception collegiate church, Cospicua, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. SOLER. On July 29, at Mater Dei Hospital, our beloved DENIS, aged 68, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his family. He will always be loved and remembered as a stalwart pillar and doctor of the Sliema community by his beloved wife Marie, his daughter Ingrid and her husband Matthew J. Mercieca, daughter Fiona and partner Salvatore Villanti, his precious grandsons Max and Jan Mercieca, his sister Marcelline and husband Joseph Camilleri Bowman, his in-laws Joseph and wife Tania Storace, Anton and Geraldine Critien, as well as nephews, nieces and their families. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Monday, August 1, at 8am for Balluta parish church, St Julian’s, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family would appreciate if instead of flowers, donations in his name be sent to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi. The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the CCU and ITU at Mater Dei Hospital, for their care and dedication. His life was short but he lived well. TURNER. On Saturday, July 23, CARMELA (Meme), née Cortis, pas­sed peacefully away at the age of 94 at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow, UK. She will always be loved by her husband Leslie, her daughters Rita and her husband Peter Alford, Charmaine and her husband Len Sumner, her grandchildren Gary, Lee, Jack and Faye, her great-grandchildren, Ella, Jake, Finley, Violet, Jack and Hattie, her nephews and nieces and her many friends in Malta and in the UK. Funeral arrangements to be advised. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

WALKER. On July 2, ELEANOR THERISA ANGEL, aged 33, passed away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter, her mother Josephine, widow of Michael John, her sister Melissa and her husband Sam and their children Freddie and Jessica, her brothers Jack Allen and his girlfriend Sophia, Andy Bob Allen, her sister Beverly and her boy­friend Owen, in-laws, cousins, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Monday, August 1, at 8.30am for St Julian’s parish church, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Qrendi cemetery. People are invited not to wear black and possibly get a battery candle.

Requiem Mass

Following the recent demise of MICHAEL ATTARD in Canada, a memorial Mass will be held tomorrow, Monday, August 1, at 7.30pm at St Patrick’s Salesian church, St John Bosco Street, Sliema. The attendance of relatives and friends is greatly appreciated.
