Times of Malta videographer Steve Zammit Lupi spent just half an hour at the junction of Tal-Barrani road with the road to Fgura, and found that for many drivers, the traffic lights might as well be Christmas lights.

The red stop light, as well as the amber, were ignored with frightening regularity, even by a motorcyclist, a coach and a driving instructor’s car.

Last week Times of Malta also reported that 42 vehicles were seen breaking the law in 15 minutes on the Marsa priority lane.

Earlier, it showed how dozens of drivers were using their mobile phones at Msida.

The Prime Minister has said he wants traffic fines reviewed. But judging by these videos, it will take more than that to change local driving habits.
