The editorial of the Times of Malta, ‘Gagging is not for democrats’ (July 27), chose to depict the judicial protest I filed recently as an anti-democratic attempt at gagging the press.

The protest was merely aimed at preventing me, my family or my property from being exposed to criminal attention by the reporting of our family activities in real time. The editorial conveniently fails to mention this.

It is a shame that Mabel Strickland’s legacy is being sullied by the obviously partisan slant being taken by what used to be considered as a national institution.
