So the Prime Minister is this time off to Singapore (I hope not in a private jet) to launch the conversion job on the LNG ship.

I am no expert on ship-conversions, but I expect Joseph Muscat to ask the people involved in the conversion to tackle the job with care and to be finished just in time for the coming general election. I do not think Muscat will inaugurate the placing of this monster in Marsaxlokk harbour ‘before’ the forthcoming election.

The people of Marsaxlokk have been kept in the dark on the consequences of such a potential ‘bomb’ in the harbour. Fireworks enthusiasts will also find, to their dismay, that when this gas store is in place, no fireworks will be allowed to be let off within  a substantial radius.

I can now see the reason why Muscat is against the enlargement of the Malta Freeport.

It is going to be a hard job for the Marsaxlokk local council to be convinced that this project is good for their locality.  Muscat will be smiling (as usual) together with Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri, who, I am told, will form part of the trio visiting Singapore.

But we have nothing to worry about until after the election…
