A body found at Ramla l-Ħamra in Gozo last week has been identified as belonging to a 17-year-old Hungarian tourist reported missing two weeks ago.

Bence Murinai, 17, went missing after jumping into the sea at Marsalforn on Friday 15 July. A search effort involving marine and helicopter teams had failed to find any trace of him.

Some days later, a body was found entangled in a line which delineates the swimmers' zone at Ramla l-Ħamra. The alarm was raised by a lifeguard and the body was removed by members of the armed forces.

Police have now confirmed that the body has been identified as being that of Mr Murinai.

It is the second confirmed death of a teenage tourist in just two days, after police yesterday confirmed that a body found at Dingli Cliffs belonged to missing 17-year-old German tourist Mike Mansholt.
