Last week, Times of Malta counted 42 vehicles breaking priority lane rules in just 15 minutes in Marsa.

The priority lane is intended for cars carrying three people or more, buses, taxis, coaches, motorbikes, electric and LPG cars and bicycles.

But the driver of this ministerial vehicle must have missed the memo.

A Times of Malta reader was surprised to see a BMW with ministerial numberplate GM 13 zip by in the Aldo Moro road priority lane yesterday afternoon.

GM 13 is the car assigned to Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport parliamentary secretary Chris Agius.

"There was one passenger riding up front, and nobody else in the car," the reader said. "What annoyed me was the fact that this was at around 4.45pm, when traffic starts picking up. Here I am trying to play by the rules, when this government car whizzes by."

The eyewitness' passenger was quick-witted enough to snap a photo of the traffic violation.

Times of Malta forwarded a copy of the photo to Mr Agius' spokesperson.

"The parliamentary secretary cannot recall this event," the spokesperson replied. "However he will see such incidents do not repeat themselves."
