Gremio: Zenit SP have signed Brazilian midfielder Giuliano from Gremio. The 26-year-old, who has played eight times for the national team, agreed a four-year contract. Giuliano, who played in Ukraine for Dnipro between 2011-14 before returning home to join Gremio, is coach Mircea Lucescu’s second signing after Slovak winger Robert Mak.

Leonardo: Leonardo is being linked with a return to the Inter hot-seat with speculation rife that coach Roberto Mancini is on his way at the San Siro. According to the media, Leonardo could be tempted by a second spell at Inter after he left the club in 2011. The Brazilian was the last man to guide Inter to silverware, having triumphed in the Coppa Italia before his departure.

Sidelined: Bayer Leverkusen could start the Bundesliga season without defender Danny da Costa and midfielder Julian Baumgart-linger. Da Costa is to undergo an operation tomorrow to remove a metal rod which was used to stabilise his fractured tibia in 2014 and will be sidelined for several weeks. Austrian Baumgartlinger has been training on his own because of an adductor muscle problem.

Pressley: Fleetwood manager Steven Pressley has resigned, the League One club said. Former Coventry boss Pressley, 42, had only been in charge at Fleetwood for nine months after replacing Graham Alexander in October last year. Fleetwood sacked predecessor Alexander in September after the club had won only two of their first 10 games.

Leganes: Leganes have strengthened their backline with the signing of Algeria’s experienced captain Carl Medjani. The 31-year-old made 14 appearances during a short stint with Levante, who were relegated from the Spanish top-flight last season. But he will re-main in La Liga after Leganes announced they had signed the defender on a 12-month contract, with the option of extending the deal by a further year.

Caen: Forward Ronny Rodelin has signed for Caen from Ligue 1 rivals Lille. The Frenchman, who was born on the island of La Reunion, scored 10 goals while on loan at Stade Malherbe Caen last season and was contracted at Lille until the end of the 2016-17 season. But he has signed a three-year contract at Caen and has been given the number 12 shirt.
