A fundraising Peruvian meal in aid of Hospice Malta and the school of music Tras las huellas de Cristo (Following in the Footsteps of Christ) in Peru is being held at the San Gabriel Band Club in Balzan on Friday at 8pm.

Entertainment will be provided by Sayary, a Peruvian band. Members of this band met for the first time in a classroom they rented within the school, which is based in Alto Cayma, Arequipa, Peru. The band members eventually became teachers themselves within the school before leaving to come to Malta.

Nowadays, Tras las huellas de Cristo not only provides music lessons but also assists the elderly, women, single parents and abandoned children, providing breakfast and lunch to students in need, and running a government-registered kindergarten, all of which is free of charge to those using its services.

Hospice Malta has been supporting patients and their families for the past 28 years. The NGO provides its services to patients suffering from cancer, motor neuron disease, end life respiratory, cardiac and renal disease. All services are offered free of charge to anyone, whatever their race, religion or lifestyle.

A donation of €15 for adults and €5 for children under 12 is being asked for among those who attend the fundraising event. Children under three enter for free. For bookings, please call on 2148 2602 or 9989 7595.
