Maltese duo Alex Borg and Brian Cini maintained their perfect start with a fourth consecutive win at the IBSF World Snooker Championships, being held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Having secured their passage to the knock-out stages in the previous match, a 4-1 win over South Africa, Borg and Cini underlined their status as title challengers by beating Iran who were also on a run of three wins in Group D.

They did it in an impressive way, overturning a 2-1 deficit, to upset their opponents 3-2.

After eight victories in Lithuania, which earned them the European title in June, Borg and Cini have now extended their unbeaten record to 12 matches.

On his part, Cini is also leading Group F in the 6 reds competition after claiming two victories with only two frames dropped in the process.

The Maltese cueist this afternoon meets Indian player Rahul Ajay Sachdev and Chau Hon Man, of Hong Kong.
