I have just read the story ‘Gravediggers told to deny reports on work conditions’, (The Sunday Times of Malta, July 10).

Could someone explain to me and maybe other readers why the deceased are not cremated in such a small country?

We cremate animals, why not humans?

My mum was cremated in UK. Her ashes were placed in my father’s grave who had died of injuries he received in the army when they were evacuated from France by boat.

Yes it cost me to have her placed there as it meant opening up part of the grave, but at least they are together. I must admit I do not know if the cemetery still exists. It has been a long time since I returned to Reading.
