Sarah Micallef is the winner of this year’s BOV Prize in Medicine. She was the student achieving the highest marks in the final MD qualifying exam in Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Malta.

Dr Micallef was awarded the prize by Charles Azzopardi, head of PR and marketing, in the presence of Prof. Stephen Montefort, Head of the Department of Medicine and Deputy Dean of the Faculty at the Medical School.

“Education features highly on the bank’s Community Programme, because we strongly believe in a holistic education and the importance of rewarding commitment and excellence,” Mr Azzopardi said.

“Thus, it gives us great satisfaction tor reward Dr Micallef on her achievement. We are convinced that her achievements to date will drive her to further her career.”

Thanking BOV for its support over the past years, Prof. Montefort said: “Obtaining the highest grades in the final MD qualifying examinations in internal medicine at University level is a great achievement. The BOV Prize in Medicine, which is awarded to the student attaining the highest marks in the written and clinical parts of the exam, is an incentive for our students to strive harder.”

Prof. Montefort explained that Dr Micallef’s performance had been consistent throughout her academic years. “She went on to cement her hard work when she distinguished herself by earning the highest grades in the final examination,” he said.
