The number of unemployed persons in June stood at 3,441 compared to 5,209 in the same month last year, the NSO said today.

It said there was a decrease of 1,625 persons registering under Part I of the register and a decrease of 143 among those registering under Part II. Decreases were recorded in age groups.

The largest decrease was recorded among persons who had been registering for over one year. The number of persons with a disability who were registering for work also decreased by 56 to 353.

The largest share of men on the unemployment register sought occupations as crafts and related trade workers (17.0 per cent) whereas women mostly sought occupations as clerical support workers (32.3 per cent).
