Barcelona: La Liga champions Barcelona said they agreed a one-year extension to their shirt sponsorship with Qatar Airways, increasing the annual value of the deal to around €35 million according to Spanish media reports. Barca – once renowned for never having had a sponsor on their shirts – have been locked in negotiations with the airline for months to renew a three-year, 96-million-euro deal that expired this year.

Ibrahimovic: Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not heading to China on Manchester United’s pre-season tour. United take on Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on Friday and then head to Beijing for a mouth-watering friendly against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Monday. England internationals Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Chris Smalling are included in the 25-man travelling party.

Klavan: Defender Ragnar Klavan had a medical at Liverpool ahead of his £4.2m move from Augsburg, yesterday. The vastly-experienced Estonia international has been brought in as cover at centre-back as Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez both currently have injuries and Tiago Ilori, who could have been a fall-back option, is heading to the Rio Olympics with Portugal. Klavan has over 100 appearances for his country.

McGovern: Norwich City have signed Northern Ireland goalkeeper Michael McGovern on a free transfer. McGovern, 32, whose contract at Scottish side Hamilton expired earlier this summer, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal to link up again with former Accies boss Alex Neil. Former Hamilton captain McGovern appeared in all four of Northern Ireland’s matches at Euro 2016 and conceded only three goals.

Ronaldo: Cristiano Ronaldo has vowed to come back stronger for the coming season after suffering a knee injury in Portugal’s triumphant Euro 2016 final earlier this month. “I just wanted to thank all my fans,” the Real Madrid star said in a video on his Instagram account. “I wanted to tell them that all is well and that I will come back much stronger. Thank you, long live Portugal.”
