The man behind the 'Happy Days' TV hit series and director of 'Pretty Woman', Garry Marshall, has passed away at 81.

Celebrity news outlets reported that he died from complications of pneumonia after suffering from a stroke.

Other big titles the TV guru helped produced included "The Odd Couple," "Laverne and Shirley" and "Mork and Mindy" -- a series that helped launch late funnyman Robin William's career.

Entertainment critics say that it was 'Pretty Woman' that also helped to bring actress Julia Roberts to fame.

Just this past April, Marshall was reunited with Roberts when he directed "Mother's Day," a romantic comedy.

The acclaimed director and producer who brought laughs to Hollywood is survived by this wife, son, two daughters, and two sisters.
