Working day turnover increased by 11.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2016 when compared to the same period last year, official statistics have revealed.

Turnover increased in all sectors, with the most significant increases registered by the motor trade (27.8 per cent), accommodation and food service activities (19.7 per cent) and wholesale trade (16.6 per cent).

Seasonally adjusted employment, gross wages and salaries and hours worked increased by 0.7, 1.9 and 1.5 per cent respectively over the previous quarter.
