A man has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment suspended for two years after admitting to having thrown a dog into a well full of water. He was also fined €1,000.

The case happened on May 22 last year.

Eugenio Galea was accused of having caused unnecessary suffering to the dog.

He initially pleaded not guilty but later changed his plea. The fate of the dog is unknown.
