Reina: Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina will be sidelined for a couple of weeks after a muscular problem during pre-season training, the Serie A club said yesterday. Tests showed Reina had strained his femoral bicep in the right thigh. Reina will have treatment with physio for the next few days before a rehabilitation process. He is expected to join his team-mates at the start of August.
Nkoudou: Marseille’s Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur after a fee of €13 million was agreed between the clubs, The Guardian reported yesterday. The France U-21 international will “complete his move in the coming days” after Spurs were given permission to discuss personal terms with the 21-year-old winger. The report said Nkoudou will pen a five-year deal with the player set for a medical in the next couple of days.
Panathinaikos: Panathinaikos will play their first home game of the new Super League season behind closed doors as punishment for crowd disturbances in a play-off match last season. The Super League disciplinary committee handed down the punishment, which was related to incidents during the second match of the play-offs against PAOK Salonica on May 15. The league said the punishment, which also includes a hefty fine of €61,750, was the result of “the behaviour of the fans”.
Gentiletti: Genoa have signed defender Santiago Gentiletti from Serie A rivals Lazio. The 31-year-old Argentine, whose contract with Lazio was to expire next year, has already teamed up with his new club mates for pre-season training. Before his arrival in Italy two years ago, Gentiletti played for San Lorenzo in Argentina. During his time at Lazio he only managed 33 matches.
O’Grady: Burton have continued their summer recruitment with the loan signing of Brighton striker Chris O’Grady. The 30-year-old, who spent the 2015-16 campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest, has joined the Championship newcomers on a one-year deal. The former Leicester forward said: “I am happy to be here and I just want to contribute to the challenge ahead, it’s an exciting one.”
