I have an appeal to make to young people: change your attitude to keep the country clean. The authorities should do their part too.
Numerous jobs can be created to monitor cleaning and to handle the washing of streets every day rather than occasionally.
The authorities should ensure there are more frequent clean- ups. It is also a must that skips found around Malta are washed, especially in the scourging heat of summer.
Restaurants, fountains and public gardens, in which good money would have been invested, need to be well kept and maintained. Admittedly, it may be hard to change people’s attitudes but the authorities should lead by example.
Let’s all play our part. Let’s enjoy summer but keep the island clean.
