It is the practice in Italian and European highways and town streets to have headlamps on during daytime as well, for reasons of safety, not only at dusk or twilight and at night.

With Malta’s burgeoning population and vehicular traffic, would it not be advisable to follow this same practice of switching on headlamps all day?

If we do, the number of vehicle accidents should diminish appreciably and, as drivers, we would be more aware of speed and driving sense. That would amount to improved safety on our very busy roads.

This can be tried out even as an experiment for one year. Good results should follow.
