A series of festivities will be organised throughout this week in Victoria, culminating in the celebration of the feast of St George next Sunday. These include 18 band marches, street presentations with various statues of St George and a grand march on the eve of the feast day. At midnight on Saturday, fireworks will be let off from Ta’ Gelmus Hill, including a fireworks display synchronised to music. Next Sunday there will be the traditional morning march in Independence Square and the solemn procession from the basilica in the evening.

Besides La Stella Band, 11 other bands are participating in these events, including a record six Maltese bands, namely King’s Own and La Vallette bands from Valletta, St George and Anici bands from Qormi, St Catherine Band from Żurrieq and St Helen Band from Birkikara.

The external celebrations are organised by La Stella Philharmonic Society and its external decorations sub-committee will unveil new street decorations during the feast.
