Updated - Rosberg docked 10 seconds - Lewis Hamilton won the British grand prix in dominant fashion this afternoon, starting from pole and never being threatened.

The race started in the rain behind the safety car.

Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg came in second but was later demoted to third after being penalised 10 seconds after his team broke the rules when they gave him instructions on the radio after his seventh gear failed.

Red Bull Teenager Verstappen impressed again, coming in a close third - and then being promoted to second.

His team-mate Riccardo was fourth while Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen came fifth having overtaken Force India's Perez late int he race.

Nico Hulkenberg came in seventh in the second Force India followed by Carlos Sainz in a Torro Rosso.

Sebastian Vettel came ninth in the second Ferrari but has a five second penalty for having driven a Williams off the track.

That could push up Kyvyat in the second Torro Rosso and Felipe Massa in the Williams. Jenson Button came in 12th in a McLaren and team-mate Fernando Alonso 13th.

McLaren appeared to have considerably improved and had close runs with the Williams and Force Indias, but suffered from late tyre changes as the weather conditions changed. Alonso was also lucky to finish after a spin and an excursion into the grass.

Hamilton is now just one point off championship leader Rosberg, who at one time this season had a 43-point lead.
